Nhulunbuy BMX Club Update - March 2019

Posted 1 March 2019

G’day Nhulunbuy BMX Club members,

Welcome to 2019. A brief update to happenings at your club this year.

Vacant Positions

Along with the vacant positions of Canteen Manager and 2nd Register we now find ourselves without a President. All these positions are critical for the club to run this year, so if you are considering how you can be involved please contact the club via email, Facebook or at an open gate at the club.

Any new positions will be supported by a strong and dynamic committee and mentored into the role. The Canteen Manager will have the advantage of a new facility to operate from!

Our next committee meeting will be Wednesday 6 March, 7.30pm at 26 Wuyal Road – all welcome.

Open Gates

Thanks to a few dedicated volunteers whilst the weather holds out we will continue to run open gates Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Sprockets 5.30pm-6pm

Age riders (8+) ONLY 6pm-7pm

Age riders (8+) ONLY 6pm-7.30pm

All riders must be current BMXA and Nhulunbuy Club members. Please note each rider will be required to show proof of current BMXA membership (rider membership number and expiry date will need to be recorded for insurance purposes).

Come and Try and Sign on Day

Weather permitting we are looking to hold a come and try day on 27 April – watch Facebook for more information. Club racing should occur shortly after.

New Canteen

Thanks to the Coalition Government’s Community Sport Infrastructure Program the Nhulunbuy BMX Club has been successful with a grant application for $239,050 to replace the aging canteen and develop a new social area. A great outcome for the club and we cant wait to see the new canteen installed.

Training and Safety Equipment

Thanks to Rio Tinto’s Sponsorship and Donations Programme the club will be purchasing some new training and safety equipment to help our riders during the year.

New Bikes and Safety Gear

Thanks to Nhulunbuy Corporation’s Community Support Program we have purchased additional club bikes, helmets and gloves for our new riders to try BMX, or for our existing riders to try a bigger bike.

Please feel free to share this email with anyone who may be interested in BMX – lets continue to rock Nhulunbuy BMX Club in 2019….
